Legendary actor, director, singer & choreographer Maurice Hines is set to play The Triad (158 West 72nd Street) on Saturday 8/25 at 7pm. Hines is the brother of the late dancer Gregory Hines and best known for starring in Frances Ford Coppola's 'The Cotton Club', Broadway's 'Sophisticated Ladies,' 'Eubie' 'Jelly's Last Jam' & 'Uptown. Described as 'a party you don't want to miss' by Broadway star Maurice Hines,' On Kentucky Avenue' transports audiences through time to the heyday of Club Harlem and offers them a fictional musical inspired by a real place: Kentucky Avenue, the center of African-American life in Atlantic City. Opened in 1935, Club Harlem quickly became the number-one destination for black performers in Atlantic City.

Historic Club Harlem will roar back to life as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents a special three-week return engagement of On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Famed Club Harlem at Aaron Davis Hall in New York beginning on Thursday, July 12. The show, which thrilled audiences when it premiered at Aaron Davis Hall in 2016, offers viewers a glimpse inside the celebrated nightclub that was the center of nightlife in Atlantic City's segregated Northside beginning in the 1930s. On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Famed Club Harlem was created by Jeree Wade, written by Adam Wade and Ty Stephens, and directed by Lee Summers.

Karamu House, the oldest multicultural performing arts center in the country, closes it's 102nd consecutive season with the Tony Award-winning musical Passing Strange. Karamu House President and CEO, Tony F. Sias notes, 'this is a piece that is important and relevant, and speaks to and engages our millennial and 'genZ' generations.' With book and lyrics written by Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Stew, and music composed by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the production opened on May 10 and will run through June 3, 2018 in Karamu's Arena Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio.
