NYC's well-known wacky musical comedy sister duo of Vickie and Nickie are returning to Don't Tell Mama for one night only to perform their latest show...Inside Vickie & Nickie! - an up close and personal show about Vickie and Nickie's childhoods, families, show biz careers and their hopes and dreams! The show premiered at Don't Tell Mama in July to rave reviews. The multi-instrumental, singing suburban housewife sister duo from Minnesota are played by real life sisters, Lisa and Lori Brigantino who were last seen this past August performing Inside Vickie & Nickie at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta, NY. Last summer Lisa and Lori brought their 2 set show, Vickie & Nickie's Sizzlin' Summer Spectacular! and The Best of Vickie & Nickie! to the Foothills in July and August. During the course of their shows the Brigantino sisters intertwine pop and original songs with dialogue, improv and audience participation all while accompanying themselves on many different instruments including acoustic guitars, keyboard, accordion, saxophone, violin, ukuleles, percussion and more. Native New Yorkers, Lisa and Lori Brigantino have been performing together musically since they were children, but created the characters of Vickie and Nickie only 7 years ago. Prior to the premier of Inside Vickie & Nickie! this July in NYC, they were seen in December 2009 premiering their new holiday show ‘Tis The Season With Vickie & Nickie! at Don't Tell Mama to a sold out house on closing night. The Brigantino sisters have written and performed 8 full shows including: Vickie & Nickie's Sizzlin' Summer Spectacular! which played to sold out houses at Don't Tell Mama and The Vickie & Nickie Dream Tour! which had very successful runs in NYC at Upstairs at Rose's Turn and The Duplex. In addition, Vickie and Nickie have made appearances in many variety and comedy shows in NYC including most recently The Talent Show Brand Variety Show at The Gershwin Hotel, Danny Leary's popular "On the Rocks" weekly variety show at The Duplex (a Time Out NY critics pick), Becky Donohue and Danny Leary's "The Cocktail Show" at Don't Tell Mama, The Huxley Vertical Presents: Brave New Kabaret at the Triad and "The Rocha Dance Theatre's Glamour Bash" at the Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Aside from upcoming variety show appearances in NYC , the Brigantino sisters are planning another holiday show at Don't Tell Mama for early December and regional performances of the show in mid December.
Lori (Vickie) holds a Major in Theatre and a Minor in Music from SUNY Fredonia and is a graduate of The William Esper Studio 2 year Meisner Actor Training Program. She has also studied acting with Suzanne Shepherd. Her credits include "The Last Nickel" at The NYC International Fringe Festival, "Trials & Fibs" Off Broadway at The Soho Playhouse and several Off-Off Broadway plays and independent films. Lori is a member of Actor's Equity Association, BMI and MAC. Lisa (Nickie) is a classically trained composer and professional musician with a Master of Music in composition & theory from SUNY Fredonia. She writes for dance, theater, film and TV and most recently wrote a National TV spot for Plato's Closet and the score for the short film "Game Night". Lisa released her second solo CD "Wonder Wheel" on June 7, 2010. Lisa was a founding member of the all girl rock band, Lez Zeppelin, and toured internationally with the band, playing bass, keyboards and mandolin. They released their self-titled debut CD in 2007, recorded and produced by legendary engineer/producer, Eddie Kramer. She is a member of BMI, NARAS, The Songwriters Guild of America and serves on the advisory board of Women In Music, Inc.
