Espinoza, Ephraim, Ashley & More Set For NYTB At The Duplex 11/30

The New York Theatre Barn announces the latest installment of NYTB at The Duplex, New York Theatre Barn's monthly cabaret series highlighting new composers, lyricists and performers. The evening, presented November 30th at 9:30, will showcase the music of Drew Fornarola (NYMF's College the Musical) and selections from Confessions of a Reality TV Star, written by Joshua Robinson and John Bronston. Cover is $12 with a two-drink minimum. Executive producers of the series are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.

SET #1: Good Enough For Now: The Songs of Drew Fornarola
Drew Fornarola's songs deliver "goofily perfect pearls of wisdom" (Adam Perlman, Theatermania), and "pointed social and emotional commentary" (Matthew Murray, TalkinBroadway.com). NY Theatre Barn presents selections from several of his projects, including College The Musical (NYMF 2008); Uncle Pirate (Vital Theater, January 2010); and Super Claudio Bros. (opening July 2010) sung by a top-notch Broadway cast!

Music and Lyrics by Drew Fornarola (NYMF's College: The Musical)

Featuring Marie-France Arcilla (Shout!, The Ark), Molly Ephraim (Disney's College Road Trip, Into the Woods), Brandon Espinoza (Big, Gypsy, Les Miserables), Ricky Ashley (Beauty and the Beast), Drew Fornarola, Bethany Moore & A.J. Shively

Directed by Scott Elmegreen
Musical Direction by Zak Sandler
SET #2: Confessions of a Reality TV Star, A New Musical (Abridged)
What is the price of fame? Adam Baiken (who is NOTHING like Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken), a finalist on the hit singing talent show, SUPERSTAR (which is nothing like American Idol,) is forced to ask himself that question. The show has forbidden him to come clean about his sexuality (and long-suffering boyfriend.) Things are complicated when his deceitful competitor, his fans and the ambiguous host (not Ryan Seacrest, we swear) are all pulling him in different directions. A campy, not so subtle satire of a well known talent contest (alright, fine... it is American Idol,) Confessions of a Reality TV Star explores the tricky business of being out and a celebrity.

Book & Lyrics by Joshua Robinson
Music by John Bronston

Featuring Russell Fischer (Jersey Boys), Brian Scott, Anthony Fett, Erica Jacob (Scarlet Takes a Tumble), Chris Yonan (The Idiot's Guide to Dating, NYMF's Maccabeat) & Elissa Samsel

Directed by Joe Barros
Musical Direction by John Bronston

New York Theatre Barn is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new evocative works. New York Theatre Barn recognizes that we are all part of a greater community by supporting and nurturing the talents of artists through networking, education, and collaboration.

Under the direction of Joe Barros (Producing Artistic Director) and Reed Prescott (Executive Director), New York Theatre Barn is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new evocative works. Since its inception in 2007, NYTB introduced a monthly springboard event for emerging writers and performers (NYTB at The Duplex, NYTB in the D Lounge), presented concerts and staged readings (including Big Fat Cat with Bruce Vilanch and I Married Wyatt Earp with Tovah Feldshuh, directed by Graciela Daniele) and produced fully realized productions (including Wood at NYMF with Tony Award winner Cady Huffman). Recent productions have included the musical parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make a Good Musical? at the Julia Miles Theatre, Bridget Bailey's one-woman play Child of Hungry Times, winner of Outstanding Production of a Solo Show (Planet Connections Theatre Festivity) and Untitled 3D, a film/live performance fusion, which explored the process, product and perspective of three musical theatre writing teams and their eclectic new musicals (including Punk, Group Therapy and the Innovative Theatre Award winning Like You Like It). NYTB has been a launching ground for challenging new work including Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days which is currently running at Roundabout Theatre Company (inaugural reading directed by Joe Barros), Katie Thompson's R.R.R.E.D. played the New York Musical Theatre Festival (originally directed by Joe Barros) and Bobby Cronin's B.R.A.T.T. Camp was featured at La Red Music Theatre over the summer. New York Theatre Barn is a member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre
