Singer
Lorna Luft has been absent from the New York nightclub scene since the closing of
Rainbow & Stars at the top of Rockefeller Center, so it was a historic comeback-of-sorts when she returned to town as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series for two very special nights. Check out photos from the concert below!
This Monday night's version of "Lorna's Living Room" celebrated female songwriters, including Betty Comden, Dorothy Fields and Laura Nyro, with special appearances by Broadway's Carrie Manolakos and singer/songwriter-extraordinaire Ann Hampton Callaway.
The evening included conversation, insider stories, old-school belting, and a rocking finale of "Eli's Coming" sung by the trio of ladies that had the packed house on it's feet. The band, directed by Colin Freeman at the piano, included Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums.
