's Cast Party continues to pack 'em in at Birdland every Monday night at 9:30. This past week, August 20th, the "extreme" open mic night was booked solid with spectacular talent.
4-year-old Iain Armitage
was a crowd pleaser, as he told host Caruso that he was pretty sure he was a superstar. The son of Broadway’s Euan Morton
, Iain charmed the room to pieces with his performance of “Stars” from Les Miserables. He wasn’t the only talented kid, either. Alix Dreier and Emily Bordonaro both showed their skills with songs from the new recording of Chip Deffaa
’s The Seven Little Foys, with Jonathan Russell
There were quite a few people over the drinking age willing to perform, too! Kevin Spirtus and Gerald Sternbach
performed a beautiful Steven Cagan tune from the upcoming “Love Songs” at Feinstein’s. The insane Rudi Macaggi balanced upside down—on his head—on a basketball—on a stool, then strangely ingested a 6-foot balloon. Jazz superstar Jane Monheit
sang herself into a tizzy, and cabaret star Jeff Harnar
gave the crowd a taste of his upcoming Birdland concert.
It was an evening filled with great music, fun folks, and so many laughs, all watched over by one of the ultimate New Yorkers, Mr. Tommy Tune
. Check out photos from this week's show below!
