New York Theatre in the D-Lounge begins a monthly event
intended to showcase up-and-coming song-writers and performers, and
occasionally merges new artists with highly-established writers and performers
in the industry. The evening is a fusion
of cabaret, musical theatre and popular music, and is ultimately a celebration
of the artists involved.
Beginning Monday September 17 at 8PM (doors at 7PM),
performances include:
R.R.R.E.D. (8PM)
A new cabaret musical starring Katie Thompson and Patrick
Livingston, with special performances by Suzie Balser, Mitzi Michaels, Erik
Sisco and Beka Walker. Music and Lyrics
by Katie Thompson; Book by Adam Jackman, Patrick Livingston and Katie Thompson;
Directed by Joe Barros
"In 2005 the Oxford Hair Foundation predicted that by the
year 2100, the recessive gene on chromosome 16 which causes red hair, would be
extinct. In 2007, the redheads have decided to take matters into their own
hands. Posing as R.R.R.E.D. – The Real Redheaded Revolutionary Evolutionary
Defiance (Alliance), Thompson and Livingston run the show as Victoria and GJ in
a clandestine meeting filled with half-truths, all in an effort to inform and
mobilize the public to their cause: the preservation of their hair color,"
describe press notes.
Between sets, New York Theatre Barn presents a new cabaret
from Jessica Gurule. Directed by Jen Namoff with Music Dircetion by Charles
Geizhals.
