Broadway star Ariana DeBose (Motown, Bring It On) will make her solo concert debut with "...they say I'm different" at Joe's Pub on Monday, August 12th. Directed by Max Friedman, the 9:30pm concert will feature an eclectic mix of material, ranging from funk rock classics to new work from up-and-coming musical theater writers.

The multimedia concert will showcase Ariana's versatility as an interpreter of stories through music and dance. A 4-piece band will play musical director Damien Bassman's re-imagined arrangements of songs written or made famous by Shirley Bassey, Beth Hart, Annie Lennox, Prince, Drew Overcash, Diana Ross, Zack Zadek, and many more. Special guests will include Motown co-star Charl Brown, Broadway's Jen Colella (Chaplin, High Fidelity), and more.

Ariana currently plays Mary Wilson in Motown: The Musical, and serves as the understudy for the lead role of Diana Ross. She has previously been seen as Nautica in Bring It On: The Musical on Broadway and the National Tour, Company (New York Philharmonic, 2011), and Hairspray ("Inez," NCT). Television appearances include "One Life to Live" and "So You Think You Can Dance?" (Season 6, Top 20 contestant).

Joe's Pub is located inside The Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street. Tickets, priced $15 plus a $12 food or two drink minimum, are available at JoesPub.com or by calling 212-967-7555.
