In Mx America transdisciplinary artist Justin VivIan Bond explores "ways of seeing and being seen" as a patriot, a gender non-conformist and a cabaret artist. This brand new production incorporates video, spoken word, and original songs from V's critically acclaimed records Dendrophile and Silver Wells, plus a few cheap jokes V bought off a drunk queen in San Francisco. As the singular finalist in this pageant Mx Bond expects to be judged in such categories as presentation, economic status, mental health, family values, and talent all while creating an elegantly formidable evening of beauty and delight.

Following a two-week tour of the West Coast, Joey Arias and Kristian Hoffman bring their show "Lightning Strikes" to New York for a culminating performance at Joe's Pub. Two veterans of the fertile East Village Art Scene of the 1980's, Arias and Hoffman, share the stage for the first time since they both appeared at seminal New York venues like Club 57, Mudd Club and CBGBs. Borrowed from the title of a Klaus Nomi song, "Lightning Strikes" marks the first collaboration between these two accomplished artists - both of whom were close friends and collaborators of the late German counter-tenor. [Nomi and Arias famously backed up David Bowie on Saturday Night Live in 1979 and the two were close friends up until the time of Nomi's deatH. Hoffman wrote some of Nomi's signature songs ("Nomi Song," "Total Eclipse, "Simple Man") and did the arrangements for others.] Featuring an eclectic musical selection spanning everything from Nomi to Billie Holiday to classic rock, "Lighting Strikes" is both an homage to Klaus Nomi and a dynamic musical collaboration sure to thrill fans of Arias and Hoffman alike.
