The Songwriter's Beat 6th annual Festival - NYC's only festival celebrating performing songwriters â€" returns for three consecutive nights and features 18 top performing songwriters including acclaimed artists Martha Redbone, Steve Addabbo, Felicia Collins, Bertha Hope, Valerie Ghent, Rob Morsberger, Tabitha Fair, Peter Calo, Deni Bonet, Ann Klein and three winners of the Songwriter's Beat - Feel the Music! Song Contest.

Tonight's show features: Elise Morris, Steve Addabbo, Sherryl Marshall, Rob Morsberger, Felicia Collins and the Astoria based band Walking Upright, who won first place in the Songwriter's Beat 2010 Song Contest with their song, "The Fall".

ELISE MORRIS is a composer, a vocalist and a performance artist. Her music is an eclectic repertoire of styles influenced by jazz and pop, as well as by more experimental forms. She works primarily as a musician and artist in New York City but her work is also international. She has toured as a featured vocalist and keyboardist with Joe Jackson and has sung and/or played onstage or in the studio with numerous artists, including legends like Cy Coleman, and peter, paul and mary. In a more experimental collaboration, Morris was a featured vocalist playing “prepared†piano in the highly percussive and improvisational score of composer Tan Dun in “America Dreaming†directed by Michael Mayer. Morris has written numerous songs and scores for plays and dance as well as underscores for audiobooks. Recently Elise traveled to Mali as an invited guest artist to lead a one-week collaboration with local songwriters, singers and musicians, which culminated in an onstage presentation at the centre de culturel in Bamako. This culminated in the premiere of the dance “Qui Suis-Je?†, (score by Morris, choreography â€" Gabi Glinz) also at the Centre de Culturel. Currently, her voice can be heard on the opening credits of the CBS TV show, “cold case.â€

SHERRYL MARSHALL is a New York singer who has recorded or performed live with everyone from Gloria Gaynor, Leslie Gore, Darlene Love, Chubby Checker to Peter Wolf, Southside Johnny, Johnny Rivers, Lou Gramm of Foreigner to Black 47, RuPaul, Al Kooper, Albert Collins to Joni Mitchell, Jane Siberry, Vallerie Simpson, Ashford & Simpson, The Klezmatics and a host of others. She was a regular member of the Buster Poindexter show for ten years and is a member of the New York Singers Collective. She has been heard and seen on national TV, live broadcasts such as Conan O'Brien, Saturday Night Live and the Today Show and film voiceovers on major motion pictures, including "Bonfire of the Vanities"and "Mambo Kings. She has sung her original compositions with many different NY bands over the years and her show "The Life and Times of Sherita Marshone the Argentine Bombshelter" was performed at the famous Bottom Line and the fabulous BAM cafe. She is happy as a clam at high tide to be singing in the vocal trio Dusty. She's just gotten off the Rescue Me Tour with Denis Leary and the Enablers. Her CD, "Black Cohosh", will be out this fall.
