Boy, Bernhoft and Lucy Rose Make Debuts at Joe's Pub in March

Joe's Pub at The Public has a long tradition of welcoming rising vocalists and songwriters from all over the world. Amy Winehouse and Adele are just two of the artists who made their remarkable US debuts on the Joe's Pub stage. In March, three artists who have already enjoyed success across Europe will make their mark in the US at Joe's Pub. The Hamburg-based duo BOY will combine the art school elegance of Phoenix and the emotional depth of Bon Iver on March 1; Norwegian one-man wunderkind BERNHOFT will bring his funky acoustic jams and loop pedal on March 9; and budding songwriter LUCY ROSE'S stripped-down and painfully unadorned vocals will warm hearts on March 18. Tickets for all three shows are on sale now at http://www.joespub.com/.

BOY sings smart, sharply-observed songs with hooks you can't get out of your head and lyrics that come from the heart. BOY's songs reveal inventive twists, adding subtle experimental touches to a conventional pop palette of guitar, piano, drums and bass. The Hamburg-based duo has conquered their native Germany and Switzerland and is now shipping their sharp brand of pop to the rest of Europe and the US. BOY is two girls: Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass. The debut album, Mutual Friends, is an autobiographical affair painstakingly recorded over a two-and-a-half year period in Berlin. BOY played most instruments on the record themselves, only recruiting friends like Phoenix's live drummer Thomas Hedlund on special occasions. Their irresistible debut single "Little Numbers" is imbued with a rambunctious drive and dizzying joyousness. With its irresistibly breezy optimism, it's one of those out-of-nowhere pop hits that gets into your head and won't go away. The colorful video, shot on the streets of Barcelona last summer, has already clocked up nearly two millions YouTube hits since it was uploaded in July. The song swiftly spawned countless tributes from fans.

Like I Used To, LUCY ROSE'S debut album, was released in 2012. Having gained a status and fan-base most new artists can only dream of long before her recent signing to Columbia Records, the young Lucy Rose is now able to sell out 1500-capacity venues with ease. Lucy's journey began when she hopped on a train to London armed with an acoustic guitar and an unstoppable dedication. Since that time, her single "Lines" has reached the A List at BBC 6 Music and she has earned features in the Sunday Times, NME, Daily Mirror and Music Week. Like I Used To is the result of almost five years of open mic nights and Lucy Rose's tireless touring both as a vocalist for Bombay Bicycle Club and as an artist in her own right. It's an astonishingly accomplished record for a singer who turned 23 the night she concluded her recent UK headline tour in London. Like I Used To is one of those rare debut albums where every song deserves to be there. Recorded at her parent's house in her native Warwickshire with the aid of her band mates and producer extraordinaire Charlie Hugall (Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran), these songs continue to spread their warmth throughout Europe and prove Rose is primed to become a major breakthrough artist in the US in 2013.

Norwegian number one-selling singing sensation BERNHOFT brings his one-man band to the US to perform at Joe's Pub and SXSW. Bernhoft has already performed on international TV including Taratata (France), Ellen Degeneres (US), Harald Schmidt Show (Germany) and many more. Often described as one of the most talented voices in the country, Jarle Bernhoft has built his career step by step; from small roles as a child on stage in the Norwegian Opera, success as a member of Span, an independent record deal in Los Angeles and his first soul-influenced solo album. For Bernhoft music has always been the most important part of his life. He discovered himself as a rock singer in the band Span and slowly built up a reputation as a voice to be counted on its own. When Span seriously took off, also outside Norway, a mini fairytale in Norwegian music history started. Bernhoft's stage performance has been described as "a giraffe high on PCP" and he himself has been called "the thinking man's The Hives."
