BWW Reviews: Jamie deRoy & Friends Celebrate Songwriters

For her October shows the title should have been Jamie deRoy & her very talented Songwriter friends. Jamie, as she always does, interacts with her guest artists in a way that stimulates them to give performances that are unique and hugely entertaining. As William Finn (who appeared in a prior Jamie deRoy & Friends) remarked, "Jamie's interview of me was the best I've ever had". The show was directed by Jamie's extremely creative friend Barry Kleinbort who also displayed his wonderful performance abilities. Music Director was Shelly Markham.

For her two shows at the Metropolitan Room Jamie's Songwriter Friends were,
David Bushkin, Marcy Heisler, Jake Holmes, Barry Kleinbort, Amanda Yesnowitz Deborah Abramson, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Lance Horne, Rick Jensen, Christine Lavin & Shelly Markham as well as Ms. deRoy. Christiane Noll was Jamie's Special Guest.

Stephen's life seems to have always revolved around a camera and a piano. He studied at Manhattan School of Music and performed in the "Borsht Belt" during college vacations, where in the true DIRTY DANCING tradition he met his wife Eda. Stephen was a Board Member of the First All Children's Theater and his wife, a classical pianist, is a Board Member of Barrington Stage Co. In between he made time to be CEO of a multi national machinery company and President of a domestic Textile Mfg. Co. In retirement, he now takes pictures of his 5 grandchildren and various other performers.
