Andrea Martin, Seth Rudetsky, Christine Andreas & More Set for 54 Below This Week, 10/8-14

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the new performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, and beyond. Starring Emmy and Tony winner Andrea Martin with Seth Rudetsky, acclaimed singer/pianist Tony DeSare, Tony nominees Dee Hoty, Christiane Noll and Christine Andreas, as well as award-winning vocalist Tom Judson and the fabulous dragapella beauty shop quartet The Kinsey Sicks.

Christine Andreas, Oct. 8 at 7PM:
Christine Andreas seduces her audience with an honesty, integrity, self-deprecating wit and scent of sexuality that would make anyone gladly fly to the moon with her. She can swing from sensual soprano to killer queen in a heartbeat, from the White House to the Great White Way. Ms. Andreas first captured the hearts of Broadway theatregoers as Eliza Doolittle in the 20th anniversary production of My Fair Lady, for which she won the Theatre World Award. She went on to star in Oklahoma and On Your Toes (receiving Tony nominations for each), The Scarlet Pimpernel and, just last season, La Cage Aux Folles. From 2006-7, she received rave reviews in the national tour of The Light in the Piazza. Dee Hoty, Oct. 8 at 9:30PM:
Dee Hoty has distinguished herself as one of Broadway’s favorite leading ladies. She has earned Tony Award nominations for her starring roles in The Will Rogers Follies, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public and Footloose. She starred on Broadway and in eight major U.S. cities as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! and most recently, she appeared as Mrs. MacAfee in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of Bye, Bye Birdie. Other Broadway shows include City of Angels (Outer Critics Circle Nomination), Me and My Girl and Big River but this October, Dee takes an often funny, sometimes poignant and occasionally downright irreverent look at her life and loves, on and off stage. With direction by Lee Tannen and music direction by John McDaniel, Dee explores what it's like to live alone... and like it! Cover charge: $30 - $40. $25 food and beverage minimum.

Andrea Martin with Seth Rudetsky, Oct. 9, 10 & 11 at 7PM:
Comic icon Andrea Martin stars in an outrageous evening of comedy and music as only the incomparable Emmy and Tony-winning comedienne can. Broadway tunes from her brilliant career upon the Great White Way, which has included, among others, My Favorite Year, Candide, Young Frankenstein & Exit the King, are intermingled with her memorable SCTV characters and tales of her life & career. Seth Rudetsky, Sirius XM host and all around hero of Broadway, co-pilots the show from the piano with able direction from Peter Flynn. Cover charge: $40 - $50. $25 food and beverage minimum.

Tony DeSare, Oct. 9, 10, & 11 at 9:30PM & Oct. 12 & 13 at 8:30PM:
Tony DeSare performs with infectious joy, wry playfulness, and robust musicality. His takes on classic standards and sophisticated original compositions have earned him a reputation as one of country’s hottest young singer/pianists. His sound is romantic, swinging and sensual, but what sets Tony apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and at the same time blends seamlessly with the Great American Songbook. Tony has the capability to glide from a standard by George Gershwin to a contemporary classic by Bob Dylan or Phil Collins to one of his inventive original songs with ease.
